Julius Erving (Dr J) (born Julius Winfield Erving II on February 22, 1950)
is one of only three players in history to score a career total of over 30,000
points in professional play. He popularized the modern style of play which
emphasized leaping and plays above the rim. Erving was finally inducted into
the Hall of Fame in 1993 after 11 NBA All-Star Games and numerous MVP awards
among his long list of achievements.
